Farm Bureau News

Jessica Coit recently joined the San Joaquin Farm Bureau staff as membership and marketing programs assistant. She will be busy with membership recruitment and retention activities, promoting discount programs, and handling inquiries for SJFB members. She will also work to develop Farm Bureau service-to-member programs, assist in meeting and event planning and coordination, as well as other duties in the office.

Jessica received her bachelor's degree in agribusiness from Oklahoma State University. She has advanced training in ag business management and agricultural product sales and management. At Oklahoma State, she was a member of the State Collegiate FFA and was honored with an American FFA Degree in 2016.

She also attended Modesto Junior College where she was a member of the MJC Young Farmers and MJC Agriculture Ambassadors. In high school she was a member of the Ripon FFA Executive Team from 2009 to 2013.

Jessica has also been a member of the Manteca-Ripon Pentecost Society since 2013.

Her ag experience includes Cropview Consulting as a GIS technician, Environmental Regulation Consulting as a technical data entry assistant, and a livestock competition clerk for the California State Fair and numerous county fairs.

Jessica grew up in a fourth-generation farming family and is the second oldest in a family of four daughters. She was raised in Ripon, and continues to reside there.

Jessica grew up showing and raising hogs at both the county and state level, and she was extremely active is both 4-H and FFA. "To this day I am still a strong supporter for both organizations," Jessica said.

"Growing up in an agriculture based family really helped to build my passion that I have for this industry today," she said. "It is vital that we as agriculturalists step up to advocate and educate the general public about this great industry. Ag illiteracy is a major problem that we face today, and it is our responsibility as agriculturalists to educate people about where their food comes from and why we do the things that we do."

Jessica said she is excited to be part of the SJFB family and meet the members. "I hope people are comfortable stopping in to say hi, or emailing me with any questions or issues they may have."
