Rural Crime
Task Force
In an effort to
help our members and law enforcement protect our member's operations, assets
and families, the San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation has implemented the San
Joaquin County Rural Crime Prevention Program.
There are three separate
programs which make up the Rural Crime Prevention Program: the Owner Applied
Number program; the Farm Watch signs; and the Rural Crime Alert program.
The San Joaquin
Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors approved new Farm Watch signs to be
made to coincide with other rural crime prevention efforts. The signs are
available for purchase at the SJFB office for $10 each. They are made of
high-grade materials and are reflective.
Besides the Farm
Watch signs, SJFB is helping enroll members into the OAN (Owner Applied
Number) program, where a farmer or rancher registers for a number code which
can be engraved or marked on equipment to help in identifying that material or
equipment if it is stolen or missing.
One other such
effort is Rural Crime Alert booklets (which aid farmers) to report suspicious
activity or crimes to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department's rural
crime investigation team.
These three
programs, the OAN's, Farm Watch signs and the Rural Crime Alert booklets, are
being used in combination to strengthen our efforts in rural crime prevention.
To obtain a Rural
Crime Alert booklet, purchase a Farm Watch sign, or for more information on
any of these programs, please contact the SJFB office.
To apply for an OAN, please compete an OAN Request Form.
To order Farm Watch signs, Crime Alert and No Trespassing signs, go
to the Order Form.
