Agriculture
in the Classroom
Fall
Ag in the Classroom
Like
the June Agriculture in the Classroom seminar, the Fall Seminar
was created with the goal of providing local teachers with the knowledge
of how to incorporate agriculture into their language arts, mathmatics
and science curriculum, as well as providing them with plenty of
materials to do so.
This
two-day seminar for kindergarten through twelfth grade educators focuses
on one of San Joaquin County's top commodities each year. Each day is
filled with tour stops at local commodity processing facilities,
commodity research and development centers, and even visits with farming
families who grow the commodities that provide the richness of San
Joaquin County's number one industry. Participants are provided with
first-hand knowledge of every facet of local agriculture from the field
to the table.
The
San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation and the SJFB Foundation for
Agricultural Education believe that participants who complete this
course should leave with minds full of knowledge and arms full of
resources! Each participant receives a resource box that is full of
lesson plans and materials specific to each teacher's grade level. In
addition, participants are given the opportunity to write their own
lesson plans based upon their experiences at this seminar, which they
then exchange with other participants.
If
you are an educator and would like more information on the Agriculture
in the Classroom seminars, or other SJFB Foundation for Agricultural
Education programs, please contact the
Foundation.
